ADD
- Attention
Deficit Disorder
True Attention Deficit Disorder is characterized by a person's
not being able to attend to anything! If a person can sit still
to watch TV, play a game, pursue a special interest, etc. he is
"attending", and is not truly Attention Deficit.
Attention
Deficit falls into the "Dyslexia" category, and that
person manifests some dyslexic characteristics. Some of these
characteristics include:
- Being
easily distracted
- Having
a short, but intense, attention span
- Doesn't
seem to understand consequences
- Is
impulsive
- Daydreams
a lot or "spaces out"
- Interrupts
or blurts out when others are talking
- Doesn't
seem to hear or listen
Sometimes hyperactivity accompanies the attention deficit characteristics,
where the child's energy level is very high all the time.
The
list is not complete. Other dyslexic characteristics also appear.
There are, however, "tools" to use to stop these behaviors
or responses from happening. The Davis
Dyslexia Correction® Program deals with the root of the
problem, not just the symptoms, so it corrects a multitude of
disabling problems.
The Davis methods are a proven correction for ADD and ADHD without
using medication. The person can literally control their attention
and hyperactivity themselves.
